Is TrackMan more accurate than other golf simulators?

Trackman is a radar-based system that accurately tracks the flight of the golf ball and provides detailed data about the shot, such as distance, ball speed, clubhead speed, launch angle, and spin rate. Other simulators may use camera-based or infrared tracking, which might not offer the same level of precision.

How common is TrackMan in Canadian indoor golf?

Less common than the marketing suggests. We checked 160 indoor golf venues across Canada against their own websites: 57 run TrackMan of any generation and 12 name iO specifically. 65 are open around the clock, and only 35 are both.

Does TrackMan have AI swing analysis?

Yes — it is called Tracy, and it is built into Shot Analysis Mode on the bay screen. It reads the launch monitor's data as you hit, detects the characteristics of your swing and points at the inefficiencies worth working on, then compares sessions so you can see whether a change stuck. It is included in every bay here at no extra cost. TrackMan's own framing is that it enhances coaching rather than replacing it.

What is TrackMan iO, and how is it different?

iO is TrackMan's indoor-optimised unit. It mounts on the ceiling rather than behind you, which is what lets it work in a room the size of a bay, and it tracks club and ball together instead of inferring one from the other.

Plenty of venues run TrackMan in one or two rooms and something cheaper everywhere else, then put the word on the homepage. It is worth asking which bay you are actually booking. At Shotgun Golf the answer is the same in every bay: TrackMan iO, the indoor-optimised unit, at the standard hourly rate.

That matters most when you book the cheap hour. The overnight bay at 3am is the same hardware as the one at 7pm on a Friday — the price changes, the data does not.

Tracy reads your swing while you hit

Tracy is TrackMan's AI swing analysis tool, and it sits inside Shot Analysis Mode on the bay screen. It reads the launch monitor's data in real time as you hit, detects the characteristics of your swing and pinpoints the inefficiencies — then tells you which areas are worth working on, from your own numbers rather than from what a swing looked like to somebody.

It has been part of TrackMan 4 for years and arrived on TrackMan iO alongside the release of Attack Angle on that unit. Since every bay here runs iO, Tracy is available at every location, at any hour, at no extra cost — log into your TrackMan account on the screen, open Shot Analysis Mode, pick a club and hit a series of shots.

TrackMan put the limits plainly and so will we: Tracy “doesn't replace coaching but rather enhances coaching”. It reads your club and ball, not your grip, your posture or the reason you move the way you do. That is what a coach is for.
